Toca is a company that always has something cool to show. The range of their percussion instruments goes from the traditional to the arcane. This attractive 24" Bamboo Rainstick falls somewhere in the middle of that spectrum. What is in essence a gigantic maraca, can really yield some interesting textural sounds. Tilt the rainstick slowly in one direction or the other and you get what sounds like waves slowly coming in from the ocean. Give it a solid shake and you get a much more abrupt and forceful shaker sound. Even if you just have it lying around in the studio, it's a great piece to look at. Made from bamboo and emblazoned with tribal designs, it's something that's sure to be a conversation piece.
