Teaching Philosophy: Music is like the language of the soul. I personally believe that everyone can learn an instrument if they really have the drive. It takes the dedication of practicing their craft, and a teacher who can convey the musical concepts in a way that the student will understand. Understanding how the student learns most effectively, being patient and knowing when to change a method of teaching can help anyone learn something new, especially something that may seem as daunting as learning an instrument or decoding music theory.
I personally encourage students to learn how to read music and understand music theory. It will help in many different aspects of becoming a well rounded musician as they further develop their craft. However, it is not a requirement. If you just want to learn your favorite songs and learn some cool solos that is also fine as well. At the end of the day, music should be therapeutic, and a fun activity that hopefully brings people together and keeps people inspired.
