Experience learning & teaching music: Daniel has played piano for over 10 years and has been teaching for around 3 years. He has experience teaching both younger children and adults older than himself. Daniel focuses on each student's personal musical interests while also developing the skills he finds most valuable for a well-rounded piano player, including playing by ear, effective practice techniques, and reading both lead sheets and traditional sheet music.

Genres of music taught:  Happy to teach all genres of music, but specializes in jazz, rock, and soul style piano.

Personal teaching style/philosophy: Daniel is a laid-back teacher who happily tailors each lesson to the student's particular interests. He enjoys working on songs that students are personally interested in while using books and other materials to develop reading skills, ear training, and overall musical fluency. While he strongly encourages regular practice, Daniel generally does not assign written homework. He also utilizes a variety of piano software, apps, and websites as teaching aids, including tools that gamify ear training and other essential music skills.
