The Viola
The Viola is an instrument from the orchestral strings family that is slightly larger and lower pitched than the Violin. It is tuned like a Cello (CGDA) and the sizes are measured in inches rather than fractions (14", 15" or 16" etc). A professional music store will be able to measure a student to determine the correct size instrument to fit them correctly. Before playing, a student should tighten the bow and apply rosin to the bow hair. New rosin should have the surface roughed up with something like a key to enable it to flake off and adhere to the bow hair more easily. The Viola bridge should be positioned to align with the notches cut into the f-holes on the face. If the bridge falls over, it can be repositioned merely by reducing the tension on the strings and standing the bridge back up to align with the notches in the f-holes. A sound post inside the viola supports the bridge and assists with tone. If the sound post falls over, the viola needs to be taken to a repair shop to have the sound post reset. Otherwise, the top could warp or collapse. Like all string instruments, better violas use solid woods instead of laminates. The woods used in viola making are usually spruce for the top and maple for the back, sides, and neck.

Student Rent to Own Viola Outfit

Bill's Music offers two convenient ways to rent a School Band Musical Instrument. Please read below and select the one that works best for you under Rental Options.

Option 1:  Monthly Instrument Rental - $24.95 per month

Rental Instrument
You will receive a quality, brand name Viola with case & accessories. Your Viola has been through quality control where it was thoroughly sanitized and checked over by our certified Brass & Woodwind Technician. We have 11", 12", 13", 14", 15", 15 1/2", 16" and 16 1/2" size Violas for rental, subject to availability.

Rental Term
This is a month to month Rent-to-Own program. There a 3 month minimum commitment. Your monthly payment will not increase. Your rental payment of $24.95 will be charged to your credit card each month. You may keep your Viola until it is paid in full or you can return it at any time after the 3 month minimum and no further payments will be due.

Credit Check
The information that you supply during check out will be used to perform a credit check which is required for rental approval. By submitting your order, you agree to have your credit information reviewed by Bill's Music, Inc.  You must be 18 years or older to apply.

Rental Agreement
When you are approved, you will be contacted via phone or email by a Bills Music representative. We will send you your rental agreement which you will sign and return to Bill's Music.

Shipping
You can choose to have your item shipped to your front door or you can pick it up at Bill’s Music.

Security & Maintenance Coverage
At your option, you can protect your instrument by adding Bill's Security & Maintenance Coverage (SMC). This costs an additional $4 per month. Read About SMC Here

Early Purchase Discount
Provided you are up to date on all payments, you have the option to receive an additional 30% off the remaining balance of your instrument if you decide to pay it off within the first year.

New Instrument Option
At any time within the first year you may elect to apply up to 12 months of rental payments towards the purchase of a new student model instrument of the same type. The new instrument must be of equal or greater value of the previously owned instrument you are renting.

Size Upgrades
Size upgrades for stringed instruments are available during the term of the rental.

Instrument Return
You can continue to make monthly rental payments until you own your instrument or choose to end your rental by returning your instrument to Bill's Music.

 

Option 2:  School Season Rental $219 - No Credit Check!

Rental Instrument
You will receive a quality, brand name Viola with case & accessories. Your Viola has been through quality control where it was thoroughly sanitized and checked over by our certified Brass & Woodwind Technician.

Rental Term
This is a School Season rental where you can keep your rental instrument until July 1st with one payment of just $219. At that time you can choose to pay off the balance and own your instrument or you can return it on July 1st and no further payments will be due.

No Credit Check
No credit check will be performed when you opt for the School Season Rental. You will, however, need to provide a valid credit card with an expiration date that is later than July of the current year.

Rental Agreement
We will send you a copy of your Seasonal Rental Agreement which you will sign and return to Bill's Music.

Shipping
You can choose to have your item shipped to your front door or you can pick it up at Bill's Music.

Security & Maintenance Coverage
At your option, you can protect your instrument by adding Bill's Security & Maintenance Coverage (SMC). This costs an additional one-time payment of $39.95 and covers your instrument for the duration of the rental. Read About SMC Here

Early Purchase Discount
If you decide to purchase this instrument within the first 6 months of your rental date, you may take 30% off of your remaining balance

Instrument Return
Your instrument must be paid off or returned to Bill's Music by July 1st of the current year. If your instrument is not received within 7 days of July 1st, your credit card will be charged for the remaining balance of the instrument.
